This is a great, gutsy article that made me so angry to read. We experienced only part of what you spoke of with our daughter with dyslexia. We never let her dyslexia lower our expectations of what she could achieve if she wanted to, and of what opportunities we would create for her or help her create in following her lead. We never used or allowed the 'd' word to be used to her, and always focused on her abilities. Luckily I was in a position to reinforce that the areas she struggled with need never be a limit on what she could do. I congratulate you on bringing the abuse of ableism in such an effective way.
